There are signs everywhere. We simply don't always see them.

A solitary car travels towards a line of red traffic lights beneath a sky steeped in crimson. At first, the scene appears to be an ordinary urban journey. But look closer. The road offers a choice: Vita — life — lies to the left, while Gloam — the process of growing dark — lies straight ahead.

The car continues forward.

Hidden within the road markings and signs is another warning: there is no turning back.

Into the Gloam explores the uneasy space between choice and consequence — the moments when we move forward without stopping to question where we are going, despite the signs that may already be telling us otherwise.

The painting asks a simple but unsettling question:

How often do we see the signs only after it is too late to turn?

Painted in oils, the deep reds of the sky and traffic lights create an atmosphere of impending danger, while the distant car draws the viewer into the same journey. The longer you look, the more the ordinary road begins to feel like something else entirely — a metaphor for those choices we make through habit, distraction, ambition, or simply by continuing straight ahead.

Sometimes the most dangerous direction is the one that looks like the easiest to follow.
