This painting is inspired by many visits over the years to Wasdale, surely one of the most beautiful and iconic locations in the Lake District. I've spent many hours exploring the surrounding fells - Scafell Pike, Great Gable, and Pillar, to name just a few of them - each visit leaving it's own lasting impression.

In this piece, I’ve sought to capture the stillness of an early autumn morning, just after sunrise. The mountain sides are alive with the rich orange and deep red tones of bracken, glowing softly in the first light. A cold, fresh stillness lingers in the air — that unmistakable feeling of a new day beginning — as the towering fells rise above the Wasdale Head Inn, standing watch over the valley in quiet, timeless grandeur.
